“I am highly recommending Rowan as a UX/UI Designer, and as a future senior leader. As the VP of SW and Digital Pathology at Roche, I had a very large team that consisted of FTE, Contractors, and Consultants. There were several team members that were consistently praised for their work quality and teamwork. Rowan, as a contractor in my organization, was one of these few.
Three things in particular stood out:
- Rowan's creativity is off the charts! New thinking and ways of looking at problems are one of his key assets.
- Rowan's understanding of the customer needs and ability to prioritize accordingly exhibit an engineering maturity level beyond his years. He operates in a manner that is definitely higher than his pay grade.
- EVERYONE enjoys working with Rowan. He is calm, positive thinking, growth oriented, supremely competent, and simply makes everyone on the team better. A true teammate.
If you are considering a new UX/UI hire for your organization, Rowan should be high on your list. Please contact me directly through LinkedIn if you would like me to elaborate further regarding Rowan's abilities and history with my past organization.” -
“He continues to be a rock star in our team. This past year Rowan has taken the lead of two new projects and is recognized as a valued collaborator and contributor by project and product leadership. Whenever Rowan takes on a task, project or product I know that I don’t have to worry about it and that he will keep me in the loop if it needs my attention. Additionally, his internal drive and motivation enables him to constantly develop new skills and become better at his job. That is very apparent in his mastery of interaction design in Figma, and I also see it in his way to communicate effectively with stakeholders, lead effective user research and create the documentation needed for our medical device projects. Rowan continues to be a most valuable team member in our team and the whole team benefits from his presence.”

“For starters, it's important to note that Rowan came to Roche with zero professional experience and a master's degree that was a couple months off from being completed. After 6 months time, Rowan was truly operating at Senior level here at Roche - independently representing the UX team on complex digital pathology algorithm projects, being a "full stack" designer (research, design, human factors) for those projects, and building partnerships with the Roche business and development teams. And it's not just me that noticed Rowan's seamless ascent; our manager, Sam Psota, has mentioned directly to me on several occasions that he is "stunned" how someone seemingly junior in their career could operate as a senior in our complex workspace in less than a year.
While Rowan operates as a "full-stack" designer on our project teams, it's clear to me that his greatest strength is in UX visual and interaction design. Rowan has a case to be the best interaction designer on our team.
He is profoundly creative in that space - always able to come up with ideas that are outside the box. Rowan had a vision of a "sub-design system", forked off of our global design system, that would enable us to have an organized and scalable Figma project that would eventually replace our messy old Figma projects. He created a truly high class design system - with properties, variables, booleans - that would enable every other designer to do their job better and (most importantly) faster. It was a "first of its kind" initiative for Path UX, and it impressed everyone.
Overall, Rowan is an extremely beloved member in the Path UX team at Roche - the whole team is better for having him here.”
